Nut replacement
Hand carved bone nut tailor made for your instrument, playstyle and string gauge.
From CA$55
On a stringed instrument, the nut provides one of the two contact points between the vibrating string and the instrument itself (the other contact point being the saddle). It plays a crucial role in the playability of your instrument as it also defines the string-spacing and the string height (or "action") down the neck. A nut that's too low will make the strings buzz against the first fret when being strummed. A nut that's too high / tall will create a high action down the neck and make the instrument uncomfortable to play in open chord positions. It will also create intonation problems (making your instrument go out of pitch).
The nut slots are filed to the exact width of each string. This provides a perfect contact surface that guides the string to the tuning machine. When switching to a different string gauge, I recommend replacing or, if possible, adjust the nut.
Nut adjustments are part of a Setup.
A Setup is recommended with the installation of a new nut.
